U15/1 – Round 4 v Hawkesbury

NSWYC Weblin Shield

2 November, 2025

In an entertaining and hard-fought contest, the Manly U15 team secured a convincing victory over Hawkesbury, thanks to disciplined batting and a strong all-round bowling display.

Batting first, Manly built a solid foundation through a patient and composed partnership between Archie Wragge (72 off 125) and Nathan Cole (58 off 98). Their 120-run stand provided the backbone of the innings, combining careful shot selection with sharp running between the wickets. Later contributions from Beau Moran (34 off 41)* and Jacob Watts (22 off 19)* added crucial late momentum, pushing the total close to 200. Despite disciplined bowling from Varun Vivek (1/36 off 10) and Ian Haigh (1/36 off 7), the batters’ steady accumulation proved too strong to contain.

In reply, Hawkesbury faced early pressure from an incisive bowling attack. Stuart Turner led the charge with an outstanding 4/40 from 8 overs, dismantling the middle order and earning the title of best bowler. He was well supported by Rafferty McFadden (2/25), Jacob Watts (2/10), Ben Peak, Max Barnett and Owen Cotte – all who kept the scoring rate in check with consistent line and length. For the batting side, Daiwik Tanneru (34 off 70) and Aarush Shah (29 off 53) fought hard to stabilise the innings, while Kavin Madireddy (19 off 14)* provided late resistance. However, regular wickets halted any sustained momentum, and the team ultimately fell short by around 40–50 runs.

Overall, it was a complete team performance by Manly — blending patience with the bat, precision with the ball, and composure in the field. Top performers included Archie Wragge, Nathan Cole, Stuart Turner, and Rafferty McFadden, whose combined efforts ensured a well-earned win.

And a special mention to Zia and the parents who put in so much work towards our lovely lunch and game preparation. We couldn’t do it without you.
