Manly U12/1 v CDCA

October 13, 2024. Jack Nash Oval, Currans Hill.

Manly 6/173 defeated CDCA 10/82.

On a warm spring morning Manly won the toss and elected to bat first. Manly had a shaky start, losing two early wickets in the 2nd and 4th overs, sending the number 3 and 4 out to face the opening bowlers. The partnership between these too was an amazing 44 under pressure, with Ekam scoring a patient 52 off 99. Later in the innings Wes scored an outstanding 46 off 34. With these amazing innings and team work Manly managed to get a total of 173 runs.

With the mindset of bowling them out for under 100 we set out to the field. Our two opening bowlers marked their run-ups and went their separate ways. Off the first over CDCA scored 18, but manly pulled them back following up with a maiden. The two openers limiting the run rate and building dot ball pressure getting them a wicket in the 4th over putting the pressure on. CDCA was scoring off the pace bowling, so the captain took pace off the ball to slow them down. Ekam and Jensen had an outstanding session both taking 3 wickets for less than 20 runs. Shout out to Eddie for taking 3 great catches in the field.

It was a tough game CDCA kept us on our toes, capitalising on every mistake whether that was batting or bowling. After a long 27 overs of CDCA keeping us on our toes Manly finally came out on top winning by 91 runs.
