As we all left the beaches to go to Richmond it was pouring with rain on the way. What was today going to hold for us? As we all arrived at Peel Park, the sun was shining and we were all excited to play, because we didn’t think we would get on. With Manly winning the toss and bowling we felt that we could really get some early wickets.
With our star and reliable bowler Charlie Walker running in at the top of his mark he got 5 dot balls. Then on the last ball of the over he made it count, cleaning the kid up for a duck. Then with Thomas G opening the bowling from the other end he bowled a very good spell to get Manly on track to hopefully win the game. Connor and Arthur combined to dismiss their key batsman. Cam and Thomas G both took a few wickets each.
As we had great fielding we finished the 40 overs, restricting Hawkesbury to 204.
Our opening batters, William Kyme and Cameron McPhee, set off after the chase with wonderful aggression as we were in pursuit of the bonus point. We needed this to progress to the finals. As the opening partnership was broken, the fall of Will bought Hugo to the crease. He kept the run chase going and scored a magnificent 50, with his outstanding running between the wickets that was next level. At our drinks break, we were on track to reach the target, as we were 3/156. With a couple off wickets falling here and there, we eventually needed 6 an over to win. Unfortunately we were bowled out for 188 and we were devastated. This bought our season to a close and we all look forward to next season.
