Manly won the toss and elected to bowl against Inner West Harbour. It was an amazing first spell from Ollie and Virat who got zero wickets but kept it tight, not letting them score runs at the rate that the opposition would have liked. It as pretty windy so the ball swung a lot more. That was good for us and that’s part of the reason why they couldn’t score very quickly. Finally Zac broke through the opening partnership with a ball that caught the wind and bowled their opening batsman around the legs. That boosted the energy on the field leading to more and more wickets. Justin owes Zac ten dollars for getting their best batsman out. Near the end we leaked a few runs which meant we needed to chase a higher score than what we should have. But overall our team was happy chasing 150 runs.
Manly Warringah got off to a good start with a solid opening partnership of 20. However, a minor batting collapse followed before Leo Ellis and Archie Sams steadied the innings with a solid 30-run partnership, until Leo was caught by K. Mead. After that, a major collapse put a lot of pressure on the number 10 and 11 batsmen, who almost guided Manly Warringah to victory. Unfortunately, Tom Dale was run out in the 39th over. The top scorers of the match were Archie with 39, Leo with 27, and Timothy with 15 runs. Unfortunately, we lost the match but with good training and the right attitude we will come about performing our best next weekend.
