U14/1 – Round 2 v North Shore

NSW YC Moore Shield

19 October 2025, Seaforth Oval

It was a warm sunny day at the mighty Seaforth oval. It was our second round game and our captain George’s birthday. George won the toss and elected to bat first. Riley and Jacob got us to a pretty good start with 0-21 off 6 overs. Then trouble happened Riley and Jacob had a mix up and Riley was run out for 13. Jacob and Justin than rebuilt with a partnership 25. The Taj Augustine went on a rampage picking up 5-19.  First was Jacob who got caught a short cover going for 15. Next was Justin going for a well made 18. Then Ryan, Leo caught behind, Fred bowled.  George and Toby then rebuilt us out of our trouble with George hitting a defiant 29 before getting caught. Toby got a match changing 22. Then Cooper hit 2 lovely fours to get us to 141.

The boys were pumped to go out into the field and get the win. Ishaan and Toby open up amazingly. Ishaan bowls with insane line and length and unlucky to not get a wicket. He ends up with 4 overs, 1 maiden and only seven runs conceded. Zac the comes on and breaks the openers partnership with a peach to remove the dangerous Ronnie Singh for a slow 10. 3 balls later George gets their number 3 out for a duck with Fred taking a comfortable catch. Then George’s next over gets the other opener out with a wide fall toss and Justin taking a good catch at cover. With their top 3 back in the sheds North Shore felt the pressure. Jack then bowls a tight spell. But then the spin twins cooper and Ryan really do the damage both picking up 3. Fred got a stumping from each spinner. Justin took a great reflex catch at short cover. George, Ishaan both got catches with Ryan getting a caught a bowled. Toby and George where then brought back on to get the final wicket and Toby gets the final wicket and Manly win by 36 runs.

Special mention to Fred for great keeping and Zac’s figures of 5 overs 6 runs and a wicket. Good win though for Manly putting first in our pool with the only team 2 from 2.
