U11 Div 2 vs Hornsby red
On an extraordinarily hot day @Campbell park the boys were keen to kickstart 2022 with a win.
We lost the toss & were sent into bat with
Rob & Harry getting us off to a slow but confident start to the innings with Harry, Rob, Ben, Jacob, Jimmy & Toby each finding the boundary during their time at bat. Throughout the innings, each of the boys, including Mitch, Charlie, Harrison & Max, had valuable time in the middle resulting in a strong target set by the team for Hornsby to reach. Special mention to Rob for a valuable 57🏏 in extreme conditions.
After the break the boys took to the field with Ben & Max opening the bowling.
Toby & Charlie were the second bowling pair with the combination of spin & pace creating the first opportunity with a wicket falling after 47 minutes with Mitch taking a great catch behind the stumps off Toby’s bowling. Will, Harrison T & Hudson, all combined to keep the run scoring to a minimum. The fielding display by the boys was commendable with wickets falling at pace. Catches were taken by both Mitch & Jimmy off the bowling of Charlie, Mitch also took a great catch off Harrison’s bowling, Toby supported the bowling of Max with a couple of tidy catches to wrap up the tail & the call out of the day went to Ben who finished the innings with 4/9 off 5overs including his first LBW. Well done Ben.
To the delight of the spectators who were sweltering in the 34degree heat, we bowled Hornsby Red out after 35 overs. Fantastic effort boys – great win
