U13 Mollie Dive Round 1 v Sutherland-St George

It was the first game of the Mollie Dive comp and we were all very excited. We versed Sutherland-St George at Keirle Park No 1, Luckily the weather was on our side by being hot and sunny. We also won the toss where we decided to bat with our opening batters Sonia Punter and Indigo Vale (who did a great job). After the fall of the first wicket Matilda Brown came out and smashed 47 runs for the team not out, she was later joined by Regina McNeil who also got a very high score of 31 runs. In total we got a defendable score of 3/100 in the 30 overs.

We had a good start in the field with back to back maidens keeping the fielding and bowling very tight. There was support and encouragement all around, lighting up the players. This attitude led to a great team effort and they were soon 4 for 15. Mya Williams (pictured) bowled a most impressive spell taking 5 wickets in 4 overs for only 9 runs. Sonia Punter took a very valuable wicket and all the other bowlers shared the wickets getting 1 each supported by growing enthusiasm in the field.

Manly bowled out Sutherland in 16.2 overs for 43 runs to win the game.

For many of the team it was their first ever Mollie Dive rep game and it was a fantastic start to the season.

Next week we go to Wollongong to play Greater Illawarra.
