Sundays game was against Fairfield-Liverpool the weather was scorching. We were playing for the first time at Collaroy Plateau, the ground was faster than Keirle park which rewarded us for our great shots . Sonia and Tilly, our captains lost the toss and we were bowling first – a new challenge. Fairfield started well, the openers batted for 8 overs before the partnership was broken on 24 by Sonia. Manly then choked the runs by good fielding and bowling, Emily picked up the number 3 in the 12th over while the score was 35. Two balls following, Ebony picked up a wicket, bowled, and Manly was on a roll . Overall, bowling was tight and we bowled them out for 85, with the wickets being shared amongst the bowlers!
SHOUTOUT FOR MYA : who had the best figures – 3.3 overs, 1 maiden, 3 wickets for 6 runs.
Also pleasingly ,extras were kept to a minimum of 17.
AND A SPECIAL SHOUT OUT to the wicket keepers who conceded one bye.
It was Manly’s turn to bat, Sonia and Trin opened the batting and kept the score moving. Sonia departed in 9th over with the score on 27, shortly after Trin fell in the 10th over ( two wickets fell in a cluster- something we need to work on ). Then, Tilly and Reggie put on 54 in an unbroken partnership to win the game.
SPECIAL MENTION – Tilly B who top scored with 26 red.
Manly girls fought well and supported each other for the win, bring on Blacktown next week and let’s make it 5 wins in a row!
