U14/1 Round 6 v Northern Districts

U14 NSW Youth Championship Moore Shield, Round 6, Frank Gray Oval, November 12th 2023

MWJCA 189 (Jayaram 62, Keam 29) defeated Northern Districts 100 (McCombe 3/20, Rosenkowitz 3/25, Horstead 3 catches)

It was a sunny day down at Frank Gray Oval, the boys were ready to play after a convincing win in a reduced match versus Bankstown last week.

Harvey won the toss and elected to bat. After throwdowns and a team chat Harvey and Rohit walk out to the middle. The boys got off to a good start with Rohit pulling his second ball to the fine leg boundary for four. The pair were looking comfortable before Harvey had his leg stump rocked back being dismissed for 5.

Angus partnered with Rohit, with the two building a strong partnership the pair were set hitting any bad ball to the boundary and making it to the first drinks break. Just one over after the break Angus was dismissed for a well played 22 runs.

Darcy partnered Rohit before the middle to lower order scored some quick runs with Louis in his first innings for the year making a solid 11. With some late runs and some wickets the Manly boys were bowled out for 189 in the 49th over. Rohit top scoring with 62.

After the lunch break the boys were ready to bowl. Louis took the first over attacking the bat, Will partnered with him both bowling good spells. Louis was rewarded with a nick to Darcy in his 3rd over.

Murray and Rocco were the first change bowlers both bowling consistent lines. Murray bagged a wicket sneaking a yorker under the batter’s bat, he soon got a second getting the danger man out caught. They both bowled great spells.

Mitch and Caden were the next bowlers to come on bowling tight lines. The two both snagged 3 wickets each having Northern Districts in strife after Rohit stuck a hand out and took a screamer at mid-on.

A late runout from Louis helped the Manly boys to an 89 run bonus point victory.

All in all it was a great game for the boys, playing really well as a team.
