U12/1 Round 7 v St. George

U12 NSW Youth Championship Cawsey Shield, Round 7, Nolans Reserve #1, 19 November 2023

With beautiful weather and no humidity, despite the slow outfield at Nolans, we took the opportunity to bat
first. St George’s opening bowlers took charge, bowling a good length. Though all was shut down by Riley and Justin, both doing well and building a big partnership of 100 runs. Justin scored a well compiled 36 off 74, and Riley finished with 65 off 98 balls. Riley’s first rep 50. Great work Riley!

The next few batters continued to make valuable progress. Coming to the crease and making plenty of quick runs. Ryan 21 off 14, George 23 off 23, Markus 22* off 24 and Toby 13* off 10. This took the innings to 5/202.

St George went out to bat looking really solid. Hitting quick runs and getting early boundaries, the runs
would stop after a jaffa from Will, and a great ball from Jack. Toby and George got valuable wickets, setting up something great for us. A huge shoutout to Harry, his first bowling of the season after returning from a broken leg and doing amazing with 2 wickets with his big turning leg spin. The same with Zac also taking 2 wickets and almost a hat-rick.

We would finish the innings with a good ball from Markus. Bowling them out for 56. We caught well, particularly George with 3 catches and one of them a similar style to Travis Head in the World Cup final.

Overall a great job from the boys today and we are looking forward to finals. Awesome stuff Manly!
